ABOUT ME
Jessica moved to Texas at a young age and was raised in Plano, Texas. She spent her weekends either playing or watching sports, especially if the Dallas Mavericks or Texas Rangers were playing. While still in high school, she was determined to get into University of Texas and decided that law school was in her future. She earned her Bachelors degree in just 3 years from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Government. While attending UT, Jessica met her husband Christian, who had enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in nearby Fort Hood.
After they were married, Jessica was accepted into Baylor Law School where her emphasis was in criminal law. While at Baylor, her determination and perseverance was clear to her professors and fellow classmates, especially with her daily commute from Fort Worth to Waco. She was chosen for a very exclusive 3-week study abroad program in Scotland at St. Andrews University where she learned trial advocacy from some of the best trial lawyers.
Three weeks after graduating from Baylor Law, Jessica passed the Texas Bar Exam and was extended an offer with the Hood County District Attorney’s Office. She accepted the Felony Prosecutor position and worked primarily on child abuse cases.
In August of 2021, Jessica accepted a Prosecutor position with the Fannin County District Attorney’s Office. She had been making regular trips to Bonham to visit family and friends, and felt drawn to the small town feel and quality of life that she was wanting for her and her young family. She and Christian wanted to find a place to put down roots, where they could raise their family without the influence of big city life and their little boy could just play in the dirt and be a kid.
While working at the Fannin County D.A.’s office, Jessica has handled a wide variety of cases from drug cases to child abuse. She’s represented victims of family violence in seeking protective orders, handled the mental health caseload, juvenile cases, and has been a part of the Mental Health Court team. She is also extremely active in the Fannin County Children’s Center Multidisciplinary Team, which includes law enforcement, CPS, forensic interviewers, juvenile probation officers, and Children’s Center staff. Jessica was a 2023 Multidisciplinary Team Member of the Year Nominee as voted on by the team members, and is currently on the Board for the Fannin County Children’s Center. She looks forward to every opportunity where she is able to serve our children and our community. She is also a member of Chi Lambda and the Fannin County Republican Women.
Jessica and Christian live in Ivanhoe with their two young children and two goofy dogs. In her free time, you can usually find her training at Fat Chance Fitness in Bonham, working cattle on her family’s ranch, shooting skeet with her family and friends, or chasing around her two kids.
